1) The value of the property increases significantly with a loft conversion, this is due to the fact that you are effectively extending the amount of usable space in your property, this is seen as a large “value increase” and a phenomenal feature to have built on any property, loft conversions have been known to increase the value of a house by percentages in excess of 20%, if you take a home that has a value of £600,000 for example that could mean an increase in value to the tune of £120,000, making the total value of the home £720,000 = huge increase in value.

3) Increased space in the property, having your loft converted increases the usable space in your home, meaning if you wanted to have additional bedrooms added to the property this would be a distinct possibility if you choose to convert your loft, you can have a bedroom with en suite added which is another popular way to maximise your properties’ value.
Loft conversion generally ranges in cost from somewhere between £25,000 through to £50,000 which is quite a broad range, however this is because the cost of the conversion itself is hugely dependent on the size and the scale of the project (size of the property) also whether or not there are bespoke features to be added (bespoke loft conversion is another thing we specialize in), so the price can vary wildly from one project to the next, our recommendation is that you take advantage of our no obligation free quote and survey of your project.
Again this will be dependent on the size and scale of the project, however we generally complete attic conversions within a rough time-frame of around 6-8 weeks, we will endeavour to complete your project as swiftly and as efficiently as possible.

Generally attic conversions don’t require planning permission, however if planning permission should be required, we can help you to obtain planning permission for your project.

A loft conversion for your house is considered to be permitted development, not requiring an application for planning permission, subject to the following limits and conditions:
A volume allowance of 40 cubic metres additional roof space for terraced houses*
A volume allowance of 50 cubic metres additional roof space for detached and semi-detached houses*
No extension beyond the plane of the existing roof slope of the principal elevation that fronts the highway
No extension to be higher than the highest part of the roof
Materials to be similar in appearance to the existing house
No verandas, balconies or raised platforms
Side-facing windows to be obscure-glazed; any opening to be 1.7m above the floor
Roof extensions not to be permitted development in designated areas**
Roof extensions, apart from hip to gable ones, to be set back, as far as practicable, at least 20cm from the original eaves
The roof enlargement cannot overhang the outer face of the wall of the original house.

*Bear in mind that any previous roof space additions must be included within the volume allowances listed above. Although you may not have created additional space a previous owner may have done so.
**Designated areas include national parks and the Broads, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, conservation areas and World Heritage Sites.
Please note: The permitted development allowances described here apply to houses and not to:
